November 28, 2019How to Choose a Commerical Blender
Choosing equipment for your restaurant can be overwhelming and time consuming. Many brands have various models with different functions and power levels, which can make finding the right model difficult. In this article, we’ll touch on different commercial blenders, what their functions are and how to find a model that will work best for your establishment.
The three main categories you can choose from are bar blenders, immersion blenders, and food blenders.
Blending
/ˈblendiNG/
...the action of mixing or combining things together.
Immersion Blenders
These are long handheld blenders that work best for soups, chopping soft food, whipping cream, and even mashing potatoes. A huge benefit to using these models is the ability to blend anywhere without the constraints of a portioned cup or jar.
Some models have various attachments, so you can switch between a few different functions. Most brands have various power outputs ranging from standard-duty to heavy-duty.
Dynamic Mixers make a model called MiniPro, but don’t let the name fool you. This unit is extremely powerful and great for all kinds of small preparations! Not only can it blend through most food items it’s also extremely lightweight and user friendly (2.2 lb /990 g). It includes four interchangeable mixing blades and detachable shaft, so cleaning and switching applications are painless.
If you’re looking for a heavy-duty option, Warning Commercial and Robot Coupe are your best bet. Most of these models are designed to blend larger preparations with ease. The motors in these units are much more powerful than the MiniPro, which makes them better suited for larger establishments.
Bar Blenders
You’ve probably seen your fair share of bar blenders in restaurants and cafes, as most bartenders have these units out in the open for quick use applications. These blenders are made with clear jars so the user (and operator) can easily see what’s going on while blending. Many models have sound enclosures to reduce noise while operating.
These blenders are best suited for high-volume areas like a bar where crushed ice and blended cocktails such as margaritas and daiquiris are made. You can choose to have a light or heavy-duty model, depending on your establishment.
Some of our favourite brands are Blendtec, Waring, and Hamilton Beach.
Food Blenders
These are the workhorses of the blender family. Food blenders are made to withstand continuous use without burning out. Ideally, they are used for blending thicker drinks such as smoothies or milkshakes, but many models can also break down harder items such as nuts and vegetables.
Brands such as Vitamix and Blendtec are your two best options in this category. Both blenders serve up smoothies, soups, food, and ice with a smooth, consistent texture. These two brands deliver optimal results with power and reliability.
