At Russell Hendrix we believe in giving back to our communities. Many of our team members are involved in charity organizations and strive to make an impact on the lives of those less fortunate. This year, Joe Longo, an RH employee, headed to the Dominican Republic from May 9 – 16 with 15 Boston Pizza suppliers and 10 Boston Pizza staff members to take part in the annual Live Different Build. This is an initiative to build sustainable and safe housing for those in need.
During the trip, the team worked with local contractors to help build two houses. The suppliers did the majority of the grunt work, such as, shovelling concrete, painting, troweling, etc. In addtion to giving back to the community, suppliers have the opportunity to connect with the community through activities such as “living like the locals” where they are able to spend time with local families to see their living conditions and get a better understanding of what life looks like for those living in the DR.
Over the past 8 years, the Boston Pizza Foundation has donated over $1.1 million to Live Different's Canadian Youth Fund. Boston Pizza Foundation Future Prospects has helped Live Different reach over 800,000 high school and junior high school students all across Canada with a message of hope and purpose. BPF Future Prospects continues to be the leading supporter of Live Different's work in schools.
As one of the largest organizations that speak to youth in Canada face to face, Live Different offers programs that empower hundreds of thousands of young people every year with the idea that each life has value and that they can make a difference in the world.
